THIS IS THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE OF HEYTESBURY, IMBER AND KNOOK PARISH COUNCIL www.heytesburyparish.co.uk THE PARISH COUNCIL WISH IT TO BE KNOWN THAT IT HAS NO ASSOCIATION WITH www.heytesbury.org.uk ____________________
Welcome to our Village Website. Our parish covers four villages (albeit one, Imber has no residents). Salisbury, Bath, Stonehenge and Avebury are all easily accessible. The famous White Horse figures, cut into the hillsides exposing the chalk beneath, provide examples of the importance to Wiltshire of its wonderful landscape and parts of Wiltshire are designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. ____________________ NEWS FOR
YOUNG PEOPLE / HYPO - CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS Some of
you might recall that a young
people's group (HYPO) was formed about three years ago
after a community planning consultation was undertaken by
the Parish Council. The
group (members were young people from Heytesbury, Knook and
Tytherington) was really successful and helped raise funds
for the upgrading of the schoolfield play area, as well as
enjoying various activities and putting on local musical
performances. Although the former group has "lapsed" - i.e. have grown up, left village, etc. etc., the council would like to revive the group and I would suggest that anyone who is interested in joining and/or helping restart HYPO (i.e. both young people as well as parents who are interested in supporting the group) contact me so that we can arrange an initial informal meeting. As this is a community group, adult and parental support would be most appreciated. Additionally,
all you 12 - 16
year olds - keep looking out for the lastest posters
about the next "The Night Club Bluez 'n' Zuz"
Friday night activity. This
is where the police and Kingdown school organise free
supervised transport from the villages to a Warminster
venue. And for the 5 - 11 year olds - the WWDC have
offered to run "Fun in the Sun 2008
for five weeks during the summer hols (Tuesdays
2:30 until 4:00 pm starting 29th July with last session
being 26th August 08) if there are enough children interested. Sessions
last 1.5 hours each week, all equipment is provided.
We need to get lots of children involved - so call me
as soon as possible. If you
are interested in any of the above activities, please
contact me soonest: Yvonne Gross, Parish Councillor, Tel: 01985 840764 Article on the Blind House restoration written by Sarah Buttenshaw is located under Local History. ____________________ If you would like to contribute by writing an article or have any local information on clubs, societies, items of interest, photographs, local history etc this would be most welcome. We need your input to make this village web site a success. Email admin@heytesburyparish.co.uk ____________________
